Soy Delicious Purely Decadent Vegan Ice Cream
www.soydelicious.com
Review by Erin Pavlina

Soy DeliciousThe Purely Decadent product line from Soy Delicious could very well be my undoing. I wasn't looking for a new ice cream; I certainly didn't need another source of sinful pleasure in my life. So there I was in Whole Foods, turning the corner into the ice cream aisle, when I saw a table manned by two happy people who were giving out samples of the new line of vegan ice cream from Soy Delicious. Free vegan ice cream? I certainly couldn't turn that down. They gave me a sample of Cookie Avalanche and Chunky Mint Madness.

As Janice from Friends would say in her high-pitched nasal voice... OH... MY... GOD! The flavors were incredible. Rich, creamy, and unabashedly sinful! I looked back at the people handing out samples with a look of utter shock on my face. One of them smiled, nodded her head, and said, "Yeah. Pretty good, huh? Do you want to take a pint home?" The angel on my shoulder said, "No, don't do it. Think of your diet!" The devil on my shoulder said, "Forget the diet. Take some home to Steve and your baby. Be a hero." The angel won that day. I left the store with none of this ice cream in my cart.

But Fate had other plans for me. A few weeks later I attended WorldFest in Los Angeles, and the Soy Delicious company had a booth where they were selling bowls and cones filled with this product line. I ordered a bowl of the Cookie Avalanche, anxious to see if it was still as good as I remembered. It most certainly was. I savored every creamy bite. And they gave me coupons to buy this in my store. Still, I resisted another two weeks.

I started talking about the new ice cream flavors with everyone I knew. My husband wanted to try them. I told my friend Allison Rivers that the Cookie Avalanche was the best vegan ice cream I've ever tasted. She said, "No. You haven't tried the peanut butter zig zag." Peanut butter zig zag? A flavor I hadn't tasted yet! Next time I was in Whole Foods I stood in front of the freezer door and took a nice long look at all the new flavors: Cherry Nirvana, Praline Pecan, Cookie Avalanche, Chunky Mint Madness, Purely Vanilla, Peanut Butter Zig Zag, Chocolate Obsession, and Chocolate Brownie Almond.

That day I took home a Peanut Butter Zig Zag and the Cookie Avalanche. My husband, toddler, and I polished off two pints in two days. And I'm not really sorry, either. The Peanut Butter Zig Zag is really an amazing product. Chocolate ice cream, with chunks of peanut butter and flakes of crispy chocolate mixed in. And the Cookie Avalanche has cream cookies buried throughout a mountain of vanilla. Even the angel on my shoulder had a few bites and I didn't hear a single word of admonition.
