Hana's Birth Story

Well it all started at 8:00 Saturday the 19th of Feb. We were watching a hockey game and I was crampy and had backaches. Then at 8:00 they started to become contractions. We spent from 8:00 to 10:00 reading our books and trying to decide if I really was in labor. So at 10:00 I phoned the hospital and said they are 2.5 minutes apart and they said to come in and be assessed. We even got to see the overtime in the hockey game! LOL When I arrived I was 4cm dilated and they said that I wasn't going home! By the time I was checked in, changed and had been on the monitor for an excruciating hour I was really feeling it. So we were trying to decide whether I should put on the TENS machine or have a jacuzzi (while I was puking!). The nurse left to fill the tub and when she got back I had felt some pressure. She said lie down, your not going anywhere, they checked me and I was 8 cm! So all the acivity started and the dr arrived and I pushed through 5 contractions and out she came. DH cut the cord (it was around her neck too, just like Ben's but was loose enough just to slip over). And it was so funny she was out, everyone was staring down there, no one said a word and I looked at DH and he was STUNNED. I yelled, "What is it???" And he said, "A girl!7quot; We were so shocked! She was born at 2:07 on the 20th. Everything happened so fast there was no time for anything. This labor was more intense then Ben's was though, I was a little more vocal this time around. I had trouble focusing and breathing, but I did it.

I didn't sleep a wink so I begged them to let me go at 4 :00 that afternoon. Now we are home, she is feeding pretty good, having trouble getting her mouth wide enough OUCH! But if I wait a little longer between feeds she does better. My milk isn't in yet, no pain yet. I feel like a million bucks! The recovery this time has been much quicker, I think due to the yoga I did the whole time, I feel pretty good down there! I had a second degree tear, 3 stitches. She is so beautiful, I wish you all could see her. She has thick light brown hair and is so pink. I don't know what I ever did in my life to deserve these two perfect wonderful babies, we are so blessed. I have never been so truly happy in my whole life.
