Why Did You Go Vegan?AndrewI became Vegan about two months ago. I used to be one of those meat-crazed people before, and I was pretty much raised to be that way. I used to love red meat, but I never really stopped to think that my food was once a living, breathing animal. The first and foremost reason why I became a Vegan is ethics. I mean the one tenet in my religion (im Wiccan by the way) is that you "harm none"; and I thought "How am I not harming when I eat animals?". So for a while I would try not to eat meat as much, and even tried to get out of cooking steak one day, when before i would have jumped at the opportunity. I used to drink milk like there was no tomorrow when I was younger and like 3 years ago I stopped drinking milk and I pretty much had to be forced to drink it because I hated the taste.I had become aware of the Vegan cause a year ago, (well i had know about it before, but i finally started to understand why) and thought that it wasnt for me, that I couldnt do it. Well I saw Alicia Silverstone on Rosie O'Donnell about two months ago and she was talking about the horrible ways they treat animals and their unhealthy living conditions, and I decided to research this to see if it was true. That day, (after thinking about becoming a vegetarian for about a year) after reading several sites and discovering the truths about how the meat industry works and how unhealthy meat is for you anyway, I became a Vegan. Despite much criticism at first from family, I stuck with it and I have never felt better in my life (In coordination with exercise; I lost 20lbs so far).
