Why Did You Go Vegan?CathyI came from a completely meat eating family, all around. Even as a young girl I used to refuse to eat meat of any kind, and was told I needed to clean my plate. Well, that soon was fought with so much opposition as I got older, that my family gave up. I declared myself a vegetarian at 14, even though I believe I probably was since birth. Time went on, and I realized that the treatment of milk cows, and hens and chickens were so awful.......that with time I decided being a vegan was the way for me to go. I started off with soy milk, and eventually I have cut all dairy out of my diet. No refined sugar, margarine, or anything animal related in my diet. It has been a big, but meaningful change in my life. My husband is still a meat eater, but has stopped drinking milk. He now drinks soy milk with me! My family doesn't understand, but with time, hopefully they can respect it.Read more stories If you found the information in this article helpful, please leave a donation for VegFamily or share it with others. |
