Why Did You Go Vegan?DebThroughout my childhood my mom and dad raised us to be kind to animals. We even ate vegetarian for the most part, but I wasn't really aware of it or that it had a name. In college, I dated a vegetarian and I sort of became one by default. When we broke up I eventually started dating a meat eater. It really disgusted me to watch him eating meat. We used to argue about it a lot. I finally realized how important it was for me to be with a guy that didn't eat meat. I started going to vegetarian pot lucks in an attempt to meet veggie guys. I met a vegan named Chris. This was REALLY new to me. Vegan. Weird. But I kept an open mind. In time I started eating a mostly vegan diet, and today I eat mostly vegan. I'm still with Chris and I have a feeling that if we get married I'll go vegan all the way since I think it's important for our children that they have a healthy diet. I'm really grateful for sites like this one that provide information on what it's like to raise vegan children. I'm sure when the time comes I'll be reading a lot more of this site. Anyway, thanks everyone!Read more stories If you found the information in this article helpful, please leave a donation for VegFamily or share it with others. |
