Why Did You Go Vegan?DeborahI always loved animals as a child, but like most I wasn't fully aware of just how cruel and evil the slaughtering process of animals really is.For me it was a combination of things, that made me rethink my lifestyle. The internet certainly opened my mind up about the pain and suffering animals endure. After reading about it, I couldn't ignore it any longer. Each time I walked into our local BBQ chicken shop, I grew more and more guilty about eating there knowing how much those animals went through. Just so I could eat dinner! I started to feel their pain, hear their cries and I just couldn't do it any longer. I wanted to do the right thing and so I did, I stopped eating meat. Not only that, I became more conscious of every living thing around me. I stopped buying leather, I give money to animal organizations, I only buy products that don't test on animals. I volunteered my time at shelters. I never kill insects. I never use any pesticides that would harm the animals and other living things. I have became terribly sensitive to all living things that I think it drives some people nutty but I don't care. We are humans who in a lot of people's opinion are the intelligent species. So let's do the intelligent thing by respecting and protecting the lives of all creatures great and small.
