Why Did You Go Vegan?Emily-AnneI became vegan for ethical reasons. For as long as I can remember I've always had a lot of respect for animals, plants and our world. When I was about 11 I asked my parents if I could be vegetarian and they said no. I was glad inside as bad as that sounds. I knew what I was doing was wrong but now I had a reason not to! When I grew into a young teenager I would say to myself "we have special teeth made for eating meat. Not eating meat would be going against nature." Excuses! When I was 15 I accepted what I had always believed in.I started by becoming vegetarian and became vegan only 3 months after when I realized how closely the meat/dairy/egg industries worked together. I understand people who believe and people who don't believe killing animals for food in this way is wrong, but I still can't understand vegetarians! :) I am very glad I made this choice and I can now live in peace knowing there are no animals being killed or hooked up to machines to make tomorrow's dinner.
