Why Did You Go Vegan?ErikaI suppose my story is rather different than the normal path which leads the individual to not eat animal products.I became a vegetarian around 12 years old ( 11 years ago) and two years ago decided to go "all the way" and become a vegan. Some people do it for the weight loss, some for the health aspect, and some for the ethical slew of reasons opposing the consumption of animals and their products. Personally, I have never really liked the taste of meat. So I stopped eating it. Never missed hamburgers and the like, since I despise American food. I'm not a big fan of desserts too, so the ocassional tofutti cutie wont hurt. I don't consider my style of life overly righteous as I view those who eat meat to be justified in their action only if they kill the animal themselves and use a large majority of the creature. As long as things, humans as well as animals are recognized for their immense contribution to our existence as a united people, I do not see a problem. I am against testing... as these drugs do not benefit the animals being tested, they should test them on people. I feel that one's body is their temple and should be treated the best possible. I believe that for me, choosing a vegan diet would allow me to fulfill this belief.
