Why Did You Go Vegan?HaroldI was raised in a vegetarian household. Well, my mom was vegetarian and my dad occasionally ate meat outside the home. But I ate vegetarian growing up and was a pretty happy kid. When I entered college I attended a lecture by John Robbins. Everything he said made so much sense. I realized that going vegan was merely an extension of having been vegetarian. I also didn't know how my food choices impacted the environment until I heard John speak.I went vegan pretty soon after that lecture. It was hard at first, but I just kept reading and learning how to cook until eventually I could do it everyday. I am now teaching my mother how to cook vegan and she loves it. She is especially supportive of me at the holidays and serves several vegan dishes that everyone loves. I'm proud of the changes she, and the rest of my family, have made towards veganism, even though no one is quite there yet.
