Why Did You Go Vegan?StephanieI have always liked to eat lots of healthy foods. When I was a kid I ate as little meat as my parents would tolerate. I have also always kept a list of companies that pollute or do animal testing and boycotted them. I believe in recycling and respecting our planet and all its inhabitants. As I learned about organic foods I incorporated them into my diet, and tried to eat the freshest healthiest food I could get.Article continues below Dairy, we cut back on because my daughter had Asthma and the doctor recommended we try to eliminate dairy. When we found that we all felt better without it we were encouraged. Since going completely vegan she hasn't had an attack. I met Joann Farb at a LLL meeting and on the advice on another mom I bought her book Compasionate Souls. It was a life changing experience, I read parts of it to my husband to explain why I wanted to cut our diet back even more. That was two and half years ago and we are happily vegan now. My children are all vegan and are very vocal about how wonderful it is. We eat a 95% or more organic diet and we make almost everything from scratch. Shopping, cooking, and eating together has become a wonderful family centered activity. Read more stories If you found the information in this article helpful, please share it with others. |
